A therapy office becomes a temporary retreat from the outside world. It needs to create a comfortable and relaxing environment that allows for alertness, focusing on the client’s interior realm. The space should also allow for an expression of the therapist’s persona through books, art and objects without being overwhelming. The client’s reaction (or non-reaction) to the space can be tools of the therapeutic process.

The space itself is primarily bright with indirect daylight and grounded in warm, natural grey. Satin gold metallic accents accentuate the warm tones and individual spots of bright color act as counterpoints. Turned hardwood tables sit between the therapist and client and add to the grounded feeling of warmth without developing a sense of separation between clinician and client. Beyond the glass doors, a container garden of large overflowing succulents adds to the calm and reinforces the natural connections in people’s lives.
